Megan Sturley is a State Registered Physiotherapist with a Masters in Sports and Exercise Medicine (University of London).
Megan aims to deliver a holistic, yet science based approach to Musculoskeletal Medicine and Sports Physiotherapy and Medicine. The ability to use evidence based medicine within her working practice ensures the highest quality care is provided.
Clients range from elite athletes to people who want world class health practitioners to deliver safe and effective manual treatment and advice on their pain or injury to any part of the body.
Megan sees clients of all activity levels for a myriad of health care concerns. Each client will receive a diagnosis and individual customised treatment as well as an easy to follow exercise prescription.
In some cases other therapies may be offered to compliment Physiotherapy including Acupuncture and Pilates. Megan uses manual manipulation and exercise programmes in a wide range of chronic and acute disorders including back pain, knee problems, ACL injuries, neck and shoulder issues as well as whiplash. Megan has an Acupuncture and Trigger Points qualification and is a member of the AACP which stands for Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapist which is the largest professional body for acupuncture in the UK.
Since 2013 Megan has toured with the Tongan national rugby team as senior physiotherapist. During international competitions she lives and works alongside the team, being involved in their training and daily routine. Megan also has to be on hand during games to attend injured players on and off the pitch.
In order to obtain this role, Megan works to achieve an annual specialised qualification called ‘The Pitch Side Trauma Care Course’ organised and taught by England Rugby at The RFU and endorsed by The Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.
Megan has also worked as a senior physiotherapist for The Rugby Premiership for London Irish Rugby Team as the team’s first team physiotherapist, Arsenal football team and Chelsea football club with their academy and British gymnastics.
Another role Megan undertakes is as an expert witness in insurance and legal cases, predominantly for whiplash injuries and concussion.
Megan Enjoys training and running in off road races and has completed the North Devon Half marathon for 5 years in a row. She has also been training for open water swimming events and will complete the Barnstaple full marathon again this year for the second time in support of the North Devon Hospices.
