What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle and effective system of energy work which activates the body’s own natural ability to heal itself. The name Reiki originates from the Japanese words ‘rei’ meaning ‘universal’ and ‘ki’ meaning ‘energy’. As a natural healing system, it can benefit everyone, from young babies to adults and is a safe, non-invasive therapy.
Reiki sessions can reduce stress within the body, thereby inducing a state of relaxation and allowing the body to realign itself producing a feeling of total wellbeing, which can have a very positive effect on the immune system, amongst many other benefits.
Reiki is an extremely effective tool of working with and addressing the client’s entire wellbeing. It works on the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the body allowing for essential balance to be restored between the three. It is said to be effective in releasing blocked emotions and stagnant energy.
What happens in a session?
Reiki sessions are often a very relaxing experience where the client remains fully clothed, normally lying on a couch (or seated if preferable) and the Practitioner facilitates a channelling of energy by a laying on of hands. Reiki can however be given using a ‘hands off’ approach, which some clients prefer. It feels wonderfully soothing and relaxing and leaves you feeling peaceful with a positive sense of wellbeing.
